Luke Shaw

Luke Shaw (b.1996) is an artist and musician based in Ōtautahi, Christchurch. Working primarily in sound his work stretches across sculpture, moving image, installation and performance. Within his current research practice, he is interested in the politics of communication and instances of listening and (mis)hearing.

He is currently lecturing in the Graphic Design department at the University of Canterbury’s Ilam School of Fine Arts. He is also a board of trustee member at The Physics Room Contemporary Art Space. In 2022, he became a facilitator at Paludal alongside fellow artists James Oram and Zina Swanson. Luke is one half of the Opawa 45s.

Recent exhibitions include Spring Time is Heart-break, Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū, (Re)calling Home, Te Tuhi, Sleepwalker, RM Gallery. His work is held in the collections of Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetū and the University of Canterbury.
